Yesterday was reading the newspaper when I come across a forum written by someone. In it he wrote something like this.
I had noticed that nowadays, old ladies are collecting empty aluminum can in the hawker center. At their twilight age, they should be not be suffering such an inhumane (my word) stage. Can something be done by the authority to help them?
His words was exactly what was in my heart all the while. To me, these old ladies had toiled and help built Singapore up to where we are now, but instead now they have to lice like that. It is saddening to see that nothing was done for them How I wished I am super rich and can built a lodging place for them, providing them with 3 simple meals and I believe that this is all that they ask for, just 3 simple meals and a roof over their heads, without worrying about the next meal. I am really at a lost on what can I do for them? Any idea anyone? My only hope is that, our youngster (the next generation) will not discard their parents to fend for themselves while they live a life of luxury themselves. Sad to say, nowadays youngster are so much into themselves. All they are concern for is me, me me! Too often our youngster had not seen the agony and the poverty of the poor.
To all my young reader, start treating your parents with lots of love. If you fail to do so now, then in days to come, your heart will be hardened and you may never get out of your harden heart to take good care of your parents when they are too old to provide for themselves. It takes time to cultivate a character, a good heart. Such things does not come over night. That is the reason why we are seeing so many old folks toiling in their twilight!!!
Hopefully, this short blog will awake the young people who are reading this!!! Anyone care to comment or to add to what is written here. I really welcome some blogging from all of you.
