Such Viciousness
A long long time since I last blogged. Let me relate the latest feeling. One of my students sends me the video clip of a few girls walloping another girl. Note, I used the word WALLOP. If you had seen the video, it will shock you out of your life! I had never imagined that I will see such actions from especially Singaporean girls. The way they wallop that pitiful girl, it was with such intense viciousness and if you had seen how they kick the girl, you will never believe that such vicious violent existed.
Singapore had always been seen as a country with people fully educated, with all that streaming and post secondary education that all students must go through and yet this is the outcome of educating our youngster. Where had they learned such values? I myself am an educator but unfortunately these few years I had seen the “decline” of the values of those recently employed. No, I am not berating every newly employed educator or teachers. I had the privilege of seeing one or two who shows passion for teaching, but unfortunately, the majority of those employed are people who see teaching as a means of “safe” career. I had personally heard of teachers that used four letters words on students infront of the class! (It was true as a few teachers had witness the incidents) I personally had seen teacher who preach the virtue of punctuality, of not playing truancy, but they themselves were late for classes, play truancy by not turning up for classes etc. What sort of teachers is the educational system is employing? Worst still, only recently, one student took a video clips of a teacher doing a very “unwholesome” act in the school and it was recorded without his knowledge! (Note, I used unwholesome, too vulgar to even write it in the blog). Imagine teachers doing such an act in an institution!!!
With such people as educator, what do you expect of the students. This is the one of the main reason why our youngster are going astray! Though the educator is not their parent, but they are the role model, if they cannot be a positive influence to their students then they will definitely make a negative impact on their students. There’s no such things that a teacher will never leave an in print in their students. It is either good or bad values that educator will leave in their students.
It takes two to clap. Educator are failing in their duties but youngster are also loosing their moral values. Youngster are so much into themselves that they no longer regards others as fellow human being. All they see is someone to be used for their advancement! Like that video where a few students wallop the other student, it build up their “advancement” as others will view them as their “Lao Ta”. What can be done? This is a question that I will leave it to my reader to reflect and to search their own soul to see if they could change and grow up to be a better person!
