Forget and forgive

Wow, last week was a tumultuous week. Misunderstanding, unhappiness and conflict among students. Tried so hard to patch but things, seems beyong control but thankfully, it seem to be working out (hopefully) but may i advice all those involved, take me incident as an example.

Last week, I also had a bad misunderstanding with my youngest daughter. If you know her, she is one who is hard headed, that is she is so stubborn that she will not listen to anyone when she is angry. So for the whole day, she refused to talk to anyone, locking herself inside herv room. So what do I do, barged in and raise my voice with her? No, realising her character and the tense situation, i knew that i had to give her space and time to cool down and reflect on her her doing. And true enough, the next day, she mellowed down and was able to listen to reasons and acknowledge her mistake. Not all will cool down overnight, so each one of us must judge the situation and allow others space and time whenever tense situation arises. We live in a world where problems, misunderstanding, quarrels etc. So let us accept this fact and learn to live with it. So to those involve in this unhappy incident, let us forget and forgive!

Sometime our students are also one kind. Only last week, when one of the lecturer was kind enough to open the lab for nstudents to use for their project, instead of appreciating his effort, they instead end up playing games and smoking in the institute. Luckily none were caught. Hello, please be more kind to your teacher. Imaging if the principal were to catch any of them and how is that lecturer going to answer for it. He will then be black marked forever!!! So is the saying true " the good die young"? So I would apprecaite it very much if students show some consideration for their teacher. We are not asking too much, by seeking your co-operation, are we?

Well that's all I have to write today.

it's been a long time since i posted a blog. was pretty busy with the attachment to Republic Poly. Anyway, was reading the paper last week and was shock by one report. did any of you read the report of a mother and her son? no, then you must have missed that shocking article.

the article report of how a mother dressed up her son as a girl and allowed her husband, the boy step father, to rape "her". how could a mother do such a thing? what is the mother thinking off? trying to keep her husband at the expense of her son? hello, THIS IS YOUR SON!!! NOT ANY PLAY OBJECT!!! i as a father, cannot imagine the agony the son went through. can you guess what was going through the brain of the son while he was been rape. thoughts like "am i a boy or a girl?", "is she really my mother?", "are all mother like that?", etc. or worst, he could be habouring revengeful thoughts of what he will do when he grows us.

i am not sure where this world is heading to? with all the talks that we are getting smarter, getting better, getting greater, etc but one thing for sure, i believe strongly that our human values are spiraling down hill faster than a bullet train.

i don;t know how you as my student think or feel. i may be old fashioned or very conservative. but i feel HELL of uneasy, when i see my students :touching" one another, been so close (too close for my comfort) to one another. you may think that you are showing "love" but i truly believe that it is more of the desires than love that our students are showing. HELLO, can you not do such thing in my presence. I DON'T ENJOY SEEING SUCH THING! you may have liking for one another, but please refrain form such doings especially when you are in school or while you are in school uniform when you are outside. I would appreciate your understanding about how i feel. THANK YOU!!!

Hahaha, today i must have sounded like a "dinosaur" to some of you, but this is how i feel. hopefully i had not offended anyone, but i would like to quote my daughter favourite phrase "if you don't like what i write, then don;t come in to read!!!" a little rude, but i guess this is what blogging is all about. And maybe it;s time for some of you to write something in the blog, instead of me writting all the while. for those who need the password to access and wrote in the blog, please drop me a mail with your name.

That's all for today. Mr Chu

Ha, very funny right? The person who put it up must have laugh until her stomach burst!!! Ok with me, as long as it is wholesome fun.

Yesterday was on MSN with some students and make one of them REAL MAD, until that person logged off which is something that person don't normally do. To that person, I say "Hello, joke lah! why so serious?"

Life must be interesting, and to make it interesting, we must have some fun and joke. Just as I had written above, sure, can laugh at me if you want, as long as you don't overdo it. So, it is always Ok, to be the butt of a joke, take it easy, and laugh along with the rest lah! If we are too serious, then we will make ourselves miserable. That's why, I always tell my youngest daughter, take a break from your studies, go play the guitar, go for a swim, go watch cartoon (ya watch cartoon, it will cheer you up! I had enjoy cartoon since young and still enjoying watching it). This is REAL LIFE!!!

But it trouble me to see where our youth are treading towards in life. Did you read the article a few days ago, how 2 graduate was caught bfor selling piracted CD,VCD, DVD etc. Not only were they graduate, bit one of them was a PHD, you know what's a Phd, it is a doctorate degree, you address the person as DR so and so. And yet, for getting a little extra income, he is willing to sell piracted stuff over the net. My goodness, I cannot imagine, studying all the way to the top, and yet with such low moral values. Please do not do such things that you get yourselves into trouble with the law. It is not worth it!!!

Nowadays, students give teacher nothing much but problems, problems, problems!!! I remember that years back, I do not havr problems with students coming in late for class (may have some, but only a handful), students being so defiant towards teacher, etc. Only 2 days back, I was in one of the class (will not mentioned which class, happen to drop by that class) and you know what? There was a students sleeping on 2 chairs while the teacher was teaching. The boy simply rest his legs on the other chairs, sloping down and sleeping when the teacher was explaining some theory!!! How can students be like that? Are our students so bad? Sometime, when I defended our students infront of sec school teachers, I had a tingling that I may be wrong. Some of our students are proving me wrong with their attitute and behaviour.

It will be a sad day, when one day, companies in singapore says that they do not want any ITE students!!! This is beacuse of the students' own doing, by behaving badly and showing badd attitute. Let me tell all students who read this, don't think that it will not happen!!! It had alreday happen.

Let me relate a true case. I had a friend who owned an architectural firm. So one day, he told me he needed some draftsman and I recoomneded a few to him. A few week alter, I happen to meet him, and you know what he said. This is what he said "I will never employ anymore ITE students, I prefer to pay alittle more, employing Poly students." I sincerely hope that this will not happen to our ICT students.

I guess that's all I had to write, rather along blog today

Have a happy day. Mr Chu

Show respect to your teachers!!!

wow, someone so bored until she must come in to blog here. anyway it is Ok with me as long as no 4 letters word are used. you are welcome to to blog here. as i said from the very beginning, this is an expression blog. blog anything you want.

back to my own blogging. last week was terrible. really don't know what came over wc, he seems so "destructively", though not literally, but i could see the frustration on mr ong's face, he seems to says "i give up as i seem to be losing control of the class". hello, all who reads, pls show some sympathy for your class advisor. he is a very good teacher, as i could see that he is one of the best teacher in programming, none can match him from ict dept!!

to all who reads, i would like everyone to remember that this is a school, respect for your teacher must always be shown. though your teacher may treat you as a friend, but still, you all must learn to respect them and address them as mr or ms, and also to refrain from putting your hands over their shoulders. it may seem that i am suggesting that you step away from your teacher, no you can still confide in them, still call them up in times of your trouble, chat with them when you need someone to give you a listening ear, but give them the due respect that they deserve!!!

it troubles me alot, when i see students coming in to school and played CS for the whole lesson, and don't give a damn to what the teachers are saying. this is terrible!!! to all these studenst, i says "please give yourselves a chance to learn a skill, before it is too late and you graduated but no skills are learned. you would have wasted 2 years of your life in ITE!!!"

hopefully, i don't sound too offending to all who reads, but this is my sincere desire to see in our students!
