What is the education system coming to?

been quite sometime since i enter an entry. But unfortunately, today entry may seem a little sadden.

Was actually very much sadden today since the morning. It is very sadden when I heard that they are going to employ another lecturer, and the main emphasis was not on the person desire to teach, but rather, to get the person to do project so that points could be scored.

What has our education system being transform to? We are getting lecturer for the sake of doing project for dept so that we could stand out from other dept? Aren't we supposed to be getting people with a passion for teaching?

20 over years of teaching and hoping to make an impact on my students, and on the other hand, things are being torn down with management seeking just to score point and forget about themission of teaching?

No mood to write much, so will stop here today.

Be compassionate and tolerant

To the person who posted the last entries, no you are not evil, neither had i even hinted that you are evil in my previous posting. All I tried to do was to encourage you to refrain fro using words that may unconsciously cause other to do the wrong thing. So take heart, you are not an evil person!!! Just be a little aware of what you say, it will do alot of good.

Was reading the newspaper yesterday. Something caught my eyes. It was a police report of how oyr teens are geeting more involved in crimes and fights. The commissioner says something lime "it is getting a little serious..." but I say, IT IS SERIOUS!!!!.

All the while I had been mentioning how our teens are getting out of hand thtough their behaviour, actions, words, attitute etc. So now I am proven right!!! (how I wished I am proven wrong!) Still I hope that all who reads this article, especially, the youngsters and all my students, I sincerely hope that none of you will have a criminal record due to such foolishness as stealing, fighting, consuming drugs etc. I can sincerely say this. If anyone of you were ti be caught, it will break my hearts as it only show that I must have failed in my duties to impart moral ethics to you all. I hope this day will not come!

I may not be a buddhist ( as I am christian), but i do agreed strong to what was written at the last postint, " ... Be comapssionate not just to your friend but to everyone..." So to all who reads, keep this in your heart, learn to be compassionate to everyone around you, learn to be tolerant to all those around you, irregardless of whether they are your friends or enemies!!!

Well, that'sall I have to says and can my reader give some comments or put up some posting, so that at least it won't be just me writting!!

Comapssionate/Evil???

Am I a compassionate or an evil person. Some teacher always said that I did not show any respect for them. *Sigh... Why why why?? Anyway, you should know who am I talking about right?

Nothing much to say now, but something to share with you all. I've just finished reading a book by Dalai Lama. Hope everyone of you will let our hearts filled with a Never Give Up spirit, a loving heart, showing compassion and appreciative joy!

WORDS! WORDS! WORDS!

Saw the digital Life about blogging. Was curious why that xiaxue was so popular? Wondering what was it she wrote that makes her so popular.

Was shocked when I saw how she blogged. The photo look like a decent girl, but the words that was used to express herself in the blog was shocking. No, I have no right to comment about her, I know that, as my daughter had always says, I write what I want, if you don't like then DON'T READ!!!

But words coming out from such a sweet looking girl was shocking to me. Word like F***, PE****, etc was somethng that I don't expect people to write publicbly. Surely, she must have known that by now, many people were reading her blog. Can't imaging what other will do, especially the younger one, who tends to follow what others had done. Imagine all the 4 letters words flying about publicly. Can you imagine walking along a public road and all you hear were 4 letters word flying about, all over you? I really cannot imagine living in such a world!!!

That's is why, I would very much like our young people to grow up graciously, not necessary using perfect English, but just at least be more conscious of the words used, especially in public. How the world had changed!! I can remeber those days when my mother would threaten to slap my mouth till it swollen, if she ever caught me using vulgar words.

It is sad to see our young people all going on the wrong path. They thoght that it is "stylo", "mancho" "in thing" to be heard using such words! When then will they ever learn? Don't they know that words uttered out of their mouth can never be retracted. You may say "sorry" after that, but the words had already been uttered, it cannot be washed away, cannot be erased. So let us be all mindful of the words we used. To one of my student who like to use the word "Go and die", time for you to change. To me, it is just a phrase, that does not carries much meaning, but imagine if these words were to be spoken to somebody who is already depressed, wanting to commit suicide, your words may just be the pushing factor, that cause her to do just bwhat she wants. I know you do not mean it when you used these words, but do refrain from using it if you can. It may take sometime to change, but you can if you want to. I got faith in you that you can!!!

Make your life enjoyable

Just an hour ago, there was a fight in one of the classroom between a BD and some AT students. What happen I really had not much of an idea. But when the fight erupted, surprise to see that no staff come in between the 2 students whe were fighting. I don't know what gave the courage to just stand in between the 2 fighting boys and I just told the AT boy to leave and he listened!!! Surprise!!! Either I look firce or I look "big size" and the whole situation was diffused! Police came and they ttok over from there.

Let me make it clear that I am not a hero neither am I trying to be a hero. Probably, it was my concerned for the student that they will not be hurt that somehow, push me forward to come in between the 2 fighting boys. It is a sad incident. Will our younster nowadays behave like they are so great, so powerful, so mighty? that they have no qualms about fighting at just the slightest provocation. It is a sad state to see young people behaving like this. I pary and I hope that my students will never be caught in such a situation, hoping that they will, as I had always emphasis, learnt to restraint themselves and never get involved in any fight. Don't they realise that once they are involved in a fight, police will take over and it will be a black mark throughout their life? Why blemish your life? Why put yourselves in such a situation? A little restraint would have make your life more enjoyable.

So to all my students, life a meaningful life, enjoy life to the fullest!!!! Why make yourself miserable with unnecessary actions and behaviours.

So CHEERS!!!! Life is beautiful!!!!

Life is never smooth sailing

Things was much "cooler" today. Both the students were here and no "explosion" occured. Must Thank God for it.

No matter waht, as I had always said, let all of us be more accomodating to one another, the we would be able to life a much better life. At times, things may not go our way, but it is OK, as we should never expect that our life will always be smooth sailing. There will always be occassional storm that comes in our way, but it we learn to bear with it, and endures it, we will come out victorious.

One person surprise me alot after yesterday incident. One of the student, will not mention name, was willing to help to ensure that no further incident will happen after that issue. The student may look nasty or have a hooligan look, but can sense deep down, that if he learn to have a hold of himself, he could grow up to be a good person. The only thing which I noticed about this person, is that this student like to act tough, using vulgar word etc, which to me was trying to just portray an image of self confidence.

Unfortuantely, self confidence is not something that you try to act out, but it comes out naturally. Prople can see thr true self confidence or it is just trying to be self confidence. Hopefully, this student will realise sooner, so that thing will changed in this student life.

Well, I guess that's all for today. Hello, somebody, sya something leh! Had been writting for quite a while and nobody response at all, makes this blog very dull. So, if you are reading, please comments or add to this blog.

It sadden me to see how my student reacts to situation. Last term, things look good for the class, but it seem like things are falling apart in class A. Once they were quite close, but now it looks like they no longer bond.

That is why, I had always been teeling everyone, we must let our hearts filled with a forgiving spirit, a loving heart, a heart that wants to help others!! If all of us had done these then whenever things happen, we will not be so fast to "explode", so fast wanting to wallop others.

When then will my students be like this? Had I failed in my duty to mould them to be like this? It breaks my heart to see such things happening. I guess that during my last 6 months with the class, I had actually not impacted them much with what I hope they will be.

Am too downheartened to write much today.

Hopefully all who read will be awaken to the fact that we all really need to be changed, so that the world will be a little better.

Don't discourage your teacher!

Hi all,

ya, miss teaching class A, had all the fun and enjoy imparting my knowledge on PCA & PCP to students. Can see that they are learning something (must console myself lah!!!) as till today some of them were asking me on computer repair!

But it disturb me, as I had a short conversation with their class advisor, how he commented that some of his students had show disturbing signs of losing interest in the course, and some are really not listening at all when he is teaching, as they are all playing CS.

Students sometime does not understand the heart of a teacher. For all their hard work in preparing the lessons, all they got are discouragement from students, once they show disinterest. Not that we are looking for rewards etc, but at least, we have hope that we can be an inspiration of hope for our students. To us, especially to me, as long as my students had learnt something from my teaching, I would be very happy and glad, I don't need any reward! Hopefully allthose who read this note can pass the word around, pls show some interest in your teacher teaching, so that he won't be discouraged!

Was on msn with one of the studens, again, the words used to expressed themselves, still shock me! Can the next generation of youth show a little more restraint and tolerant? It is so easy to blow up or to express our anger towards another person. Can we be more forgiving? Can we be more accomodating? Please try to, if not the next generation will grow up to be a generation filled with hatred, with no trust for each other.

I hope I am not nagging, but seriously I would like to see all my students growing uo to be a good citizen, a good natured person, a moral human being. How long do I have with all of you? This I cannot answer. I amy be with you till you graduate, or may not be with you till you finished your course, but still, I hope to make an impression to all my students, so that they will grow up to be people with good moral values.

Mr Chu! Where are you? Seldom see you nowadays... Didn't you teach us anymore? You only came into the class on Wednesday, but you did not teach us. WHY?

And why didn't you come to school today? Heard that you had fallen ill. How is it? Serious? Take good care of your health ok! God bless you!

Let Love Flow

It breaks my hear to read of how a maid killed her boss. Can you guess why? One thing for sure, she must have been filled with great hatred that cause her to do such terrible act.

And this bring me back to an msn chat that I had with one of the student a few days ago. The student had a quarrel with his/her mother and the words used were terrible. Words like "Go and die", telling his/her mother to go and die and to die early. It shocke me to see such words being used against one parent. This is the message that I want to bring across to all students, never ever let your heart be filled with hatred or great anger, if not it could lead you to do things that you may not believe that you will ever do and by then it might be too late, just like the maid. She may have been filled with intense hatred and anger and it drive her to kill the boss, but now, it is too late to regret and she will probably have to pay with her life.

This is the message that I want all my students reading this blog to remember, don't ever let your heart be filled with hatred. Once it start, it will caontinue to grow until it eats you up.

Hopefully, I will get some response from all who reads, so that, if ever you need someone to talk over your frustration, I am always available, whether I am still teaching you or not, it does not matter. So please give me some comments about this issue.

Youngster must learn to understand that no matter what, your parent loves you. The heart of a parent, never ever want anything bad for their children.

So let love flow freely from all of us, never let our heart be filled with hatred.
